TThe duties and responsibilities of the Chief of Police shall include, but not be restricted to the following.
(A) Supervision of the Police Department with tact and sensitivity. Any written procedures of policies other than Kentucky State Statutes must be approved by the City Council.
(B) Regular patrol and customary duties of all police work.
(C) The Chief shall see that flags are up on appropriate days and are taken down in the evenings.
(D) Overseeing street repairs, such
as removal of rocks from the shoulders of streets, having pot holes filled,
having parking stripes painted, and the like.
(E) Seeing that street signs are
up where needed and repairs are made.
(F) The Chief shall be responsible for the maintenance of cruisers, including oil changes, gas, lubes, washing and repairs.
(G) The Chief shall be responsible for seeing that school crossings are monitored at the beginning and end of school hours. The only exception to this is in case of an emergency. Such an emergency shall be noted in the dispatcher log.
(H) The Chief shall keep the Mayor informed as to what needs to be done and has been done in regard to maintenance and personnel.
(I) The Chief shall attend City Council meetings.
(J) The Chief shall be responsible for seeing that department funds are taken to the bank and are properly deposited.
(K) The Chief shall collect privilege licenses.
(L) No purchase is to be made without prior approval from the Mayor or City Council.
(M) Employees of the city may not hold other jobs that would conflict with their duties as an employee of the city.
(N) The Chief shall perform any
other related police duties directed by the Mayor.
